Interview Preparation tips
It may sound boring but preparing for interviews is the key to success. Now more than ever. It is interesting that while this video has a number of contributors all making really good contributions – the first thing that is emphasised is preparing for the interview.
I think it is also interesting that Accenture have prepared this video. Preparing for interviews helps the interviewer and the company as well as you. If you prepare for an interview it helps stop you from underselling yourself and it stops you from wasting their time too.
A positive and optimistic attitude are important. I also agree totally about the need to be energetic and enthusaiastic. This along with good eye contact, being yourself, being real and easy to be with are all important criteria for the interview.
I also liked the comments about slang and casual language (don’t use them) – although I would always stay away from overly big or pompous words as well.
The video also mentions a regular – and surprising – thing that interviewers complain about. Job applicants who have forgotten or do not know what lies gems they wrote about themselves in their CV.
If the potential employer has taken the time to read your CV, you are seriously letting yourself down if you have forgotten what is in there and they know more about you than you do. Before you go in to the interview – have a quick mental run down of the key points and achievements, transferable skills and other relevant details about your job history.
