Considering what to wear in an interview is not easy. But looking the part in a job interview is important. For one it shows your interviewer that you have considered the position and are enthusiastic about the job. Secondly, it gives you the self-confidence to do your best in the interview.
Sometimes, a company will give you a dress code for the interview; sometimes, you may have the opportunity to ask. However, consider these ideas on what to wear in certain industries:

1. Technology
Tech companies pride themselves on being the most innovative and creative in the industry. A collared shirt and non-denim trousers will be enough for an interview. Wearing a suit may make you look stuffy and overdressed; look at Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg who wore a hoodie to address major investors. Even Microsoft encourage candidates to dress in an expressive and creative way in interviews.
2. Finance
A job in finance requires you to be precise and accurate; your clothing should reflect this in an interview. Professional dress is a must. Dark suits and conservative dress is essential. Keep jewellery to a minimum, and limit the amount of colour. Let your experience and expertise speak for you.
3. Sales
Interviewing for a sales job will usually not require you to dress as formally as if you are interviewing in finance, depending on the company. A suit is usually required but not essential. Showing more colour and bolder designs may be a good idea if you are interviewing for a company that sells fashionable or innovative products.
4. Manufacturing
Interviewing for a manufacturing or manual labour job does not require a suit. Manufacturing companies are looking for hard workers in a physically demanding environment; your outfit should reflect this. Consider wearing a smart shirt or blouse and plain trousers. A tie is optional, though sometimes discouraged by manufacturing firms due to safety hazards.
5. Hospitality
A large part of hospitality is appearance and image. Business casual is usually the preferred option. The advantage of interviewing for a hospitality job is that usually, there is a uniform that can be spotted from the door. Use the uniform to determine what to wear to your interview; if the staff wears polo shirts, then dress more casually. If the workers wear jackets and ties, consider doing the same for your interview.
